B-sting, the designer
With good grades in maths, physics and chemistry in school, it was rather obvious I felt I had to go study something technical. My choice fell on the
Technical University Delft. For some reason however, I didn't want to go study something hardcore technical like Physics or IT. The faculty of
Industrial Design Engineering had a much larger appeal to me because it relied on both 'hard' technical skills and 'soft' creative talents.
The first four years I kept strictly to the schedule and got back all my marks. Throughout this, I already realised I was good, but no one of the best. The final years started to drag on mainly due to ill-fated group assignments and a graduation project that focussed too much on the technical and theoretical and too little on the practical design side. There were however also noteworthy accomplishments like a study trip to South Korea and an intern ship a web design company
Zappwerk.nl.
After gaining my M.Sc. title in Industrial Design Engineering, I found employment in the IT-sector, but I remained busy in desing, mainly in various personal projects like my own website,
Tjolk, the websites for my bands, invitations and flyers, my annual Christmas card and so on.
